Alma Redemptoris Mater

Kindly mother of the Redeemer, who art ever of heaven

The open gate, and the star of the sea, aid a fallen people,

Which is trying to rise again; thou who didst give birth,

While nature marvelled how, to the Holy Creator,

Virgin both before and after, from Gabriel’s mouth

Accepting the All hail, be merciful towards sinners.

( Tr. Blessed John Henry Newman )

V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

R. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray.

Pour forth we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace into our

hearts that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may, by his

passion and cross, be brought to the glory of his res-urrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
